Simple and playful creation - creative journey and passion for making

The Beauty of Simple Playful Creation
#

As a child, I was curious and inventive. I loved to daydream of creating crazy and amazing fun inventions. Maybe it’s due to watching cartoons like Jimmy Neutron, Doraemon, and SpongeBob in the early 2000s. But yeah, the thought of it often lit up my brain in a weird but euphoric manner.

The Peak of Building Stuff

Fast forward 20 odd years later, I’ve become a developer who codes and creates a lot! Initially, I joined the profession as a Game Developer and had tons of fun creating random stuff like Hiragana learning apps, fish racing, and warped dimensions basketball. All for little to no money at all, but life was looking hopeful.

When The Hobby Becomes a Job
#

After some time, like what happens to everyone, the hobby becomes a job. Rather than creating what you like, you’re forced to work on maintaining and taking on soul-draining tasks that only a few brave souls can endure for long - and even then, often at the cost of their soul.

These days, with AI though, we can create a lot. When productivity becomes the goal (which it always tends to), the joy of building and inventing spills away as well.

The Hope in All this
#

Looking back at it all, the passion and joy never disappeared. It was rather just the civilized grown-up’s seriousness that robbed us from it - the spirit of productivity and the relentless “do it for the money” attitude.

When we see through this, we can tell ourselves that sometimes, rather than caring too much about money and being overly productive, it’s better to just lay back, relax, and enjoy creating whatever we want. We’d be a million times happier and more satisfied. And who knows? Perhaps, if we’re lucky, we might unknowingly open more doors of wealth and opportunity by giving ourselves this time to create freely.
